- Q: How did the group’s name “Boyfriend” come about?
- Jeongmin: The name “Boyfriend” expresses our desire to be everyone’s boyfriend, to be always there for those who love us.
- Youngmin: Our company created the name for us in hopes that we grow as an idol group who is well-loved by many people
- Minwoo: The word “Boyfriend” represents familiarity and we will also be able to show a diverse charm of one. We hope to approach our fans with such diversified appeals and familiarity
- Q : Kwangmin & Youngmin, as twins, do you share a special kind of telepathy?
- Youngmin : I am not so sure about that. However, there are occasions where if one falls sick, the other falls sick as well, or both make the same mistakes in choreography. And, sometimes, it’s amazing that we fell happy at the same time.
- Kwangmin : I think the fact that we are twins has an influence on our mood. When one feels down, the other would usually feel the same.
- Q : Do the other members have trouble telling the twins apart?
- Donghyun : Now we can differentiate them just by hearing their voice. We’re known each other for a long time and even though they are twins, they are very different.
- Hyunseong : They are very different in terms of character, behaviour and the way they talk. I could not differentiate them at first, but now, I have no problem telling who’s who. And, it became easier to do so ever since we debuted because of their different hair colours.
- Jeongmin : I no longer find it difficult to differentiate them. I can tell who’s Youngmin and who’s Kwangmin perfectly well! I also found it hard to differentiate them at first but after knowing them for long, I have gotten used to them and learnt their differences.
- Q: Youngmin, you mentioned on ‘Happy Together’ that someone once mistook you for a girl and asked you to be his girlfriend. Do you see your feminine looks as an advantage or disadvantage?
- Youngmin : I see it both as an advantage as well as a disadvantage. The disadvantageous part comes when it hinders my attempt to portray my manliness. Please remember me as charismatic Youngmin.
- Q: Donghyun, as the leader, do the other members often go to you for advice and support?
- Donghyun : I try to find out more about each member by talaking to them more often. No one would know your dissatisfaction or unhappiness if you don’t express it. We listen to one another and look for optimal solutions!
- Q: Minwoo, you were a chils actor who starred in many TV shows and movies before debuting as a singer. How is singing different from acting and which do you prefer?
- Minwoo : The difference lies in whether you express your feelings through speech or singing. Since I am now a member of Boyfriend. I wish to focus on becoming a good singer!
- Q: Youngmin, Kwangmin & Donghyun, you starred in Sistar’s MV “Push Push”. As your seniors from the same company, did Sistar give you any advice?
- Donghyun : They give us tremendous support. They are great friends and seniors who always choose to encourage us rather than criticising our mistakes.
- Youngmin : They advised us to keep practising and not to be nervous on stage! They also help us monitor our performance. We are truly grateful for all their support.
- Kwangmin : They would give us useful tips on how to look better in front of a camera and they would also point out the areas we are lacking in. We take note of all these advices and keep working on them.
- Q : HyunSeong, you are very active online and always take time out to chat with your fans on twitter. Have you received any memorable fan messages?
- Hyunseong : Some fans have told me to be more active in front of a camera. I have gotten more used to standing in front of one but I still get nervous. I will put more effort into overcoming such a fear.
- Q: Jeongmin, your looks have been compare to actor Yoo Seung Go. How do you feel about the comparison? Do you see the resembalnce yourself?
- Jeongmin : I think the resemblance comes from the buchy eyebrows! Yoo Seung Ho is sncomparibly attractive. I am thankful that I am being compared to him.
- Q : Boyfriend shot to fame right after debut Was it hard for you to adjust to life after becoming famous?
- Donghyun : So far there has been no great inconvenience or difficulty with regards to my personal life. I am enjoying every moment I share with my members and our fans!
- Hyunseung: I don’t quite feel such a great popularity. We are very thankful all the support we receive from our fans. We always have extra practice sessions after a day’s schedule [and] our normal days always end in the practice room.
- Kwangmin : I don’t feel the popularity too since we end up in our practice room for extra practice at the end of the day as usual. I hope that all the members keep putting in their best effort in developing ourselves as a better idol group rather than being obsessed with popularity.
- Q : You debuted at the same time as many rookie groups. What is it about Boyfriend that makes you different from other rookie groups?
- Hyunseung: The name “Boyfriend” expresses familiarit. We are always improving and we also provoke curiosity in people every time we make a comeback by making them wonder what our new look is going to be.
- Jeongmin: We have a freshness of a rookie, and we possess diverse charms and personalities! Every member in the group has distinctive characteristics.
- Minwoo: We give off the affectionate and familiar feel like a real boyfriend!
- Q: From the same agency, K.Will is known as a ballad singer while Sistar is known as a dance group. What does Boyfriend want to be known as?
- Donghyun: We want to be known as an idol group who gives off a pleasant vibe. A group that puts a smile on people’s faces! We want to known in various areas as well.
- Jeongmin: We want to be a national idol group! One has to dream big! We wish to be an idol group well-loved by all generations.
- Youngmin: We want to be a group that can sing both ballads and groovy dance songs.
- Q:In the “Boyfriend” MN, you confessed your love for a girl by giving her a CD. in real life, what tactics do you use to charm a girl?
- Donghyun: Iam shy and I find it hard to approach a girl. However, my feelings tend to be exposed unknowingly and the person I am interested in would soon find out.
- Kwangmin: i am neither direct nor bold, so it’s hard for me to express my feelings. I tend to wait for the person to approach me.
- Minwoo: I will be really good to her! I will express my feelings directly!
- Q: Is there a particular trait that would make you attracted to a girl?
- Donghyun: A girl who looks cold outside, but has a warm heart and a sense of humor.
- Hyunseong: A charming girl whom I can feel comfortable with.
- Jeongmin: A cute girl who looks pretty when smiling with her eyes
- Youngmin: A girl with a clear eyes and aegyo!
- Kwangmin: Aegyo! my ideal type is a cute girl
- Minwoo: A feminine and a cute girl
- Q: What kind of boyfriend do you think you will make?
- Donhyun: A boyfriend who never changes and thus well-loved!
- Hyunseung: An understanding and caring boyfriend for the one he truly loves.
- Jeongmin: A comfortable and reliable boyfriend, like a friend or a big brother.
- Youngmin: I want to be the most caring and affectionate boyfriend to my only girl.
- Kwangmin: A sincere and warm-hearted boyfriend!
- Minwoo: A caring boyfriend who has eyes for just the one he loves!
- Q: Your second single album is titled ” Don’t Touch My Girl”, which is about a guy trying to hold on to his girlfriend. If your girlfriend were going to leave you, what would you do?
- Donghyun : If I really love her, I will hold onto her no matter what it takes!
- Hyunseong : If I really love her, I will hold onto her til the very end.
- Jeongmin : If I really love her, I will hold onto her even if it costs my life!
- Youngmin : I will ask her the reason for leaving me. It will be heartbreaking, but if I truly love her and she wishes to leave, I will let her go.
- Kwangmin : I will let her go. I want to respect her decision.
- Minwoo : I will respect the decision made by the one I love. But, I will make sure I express my true feelings before letting her go.
- Q:Along with your third single, you decided to give away one-of-a-kind Polaroids of the members in 300 of our albums. Why and how did you come up with the idea?
- Donghyun : We wanted to prepare something special, the world’s one and only gift for those who purchase our albums. We took the Polaroid pictures whenever we could while preparing the album. The Polaroids contain images of Boyfriend members that you have never seen before. If you collect all the Polaroids, you can get snippets of our daily lives.
- Jeongmin : I wanted to be closer to our fans! And, we also wanted to present them with our memories.
- Youngmin : We wanted to prepare a gift, besides our songs, to all those who buy our albums!
- Q :Boyfriend debuted with much success. Did that create extra stress or pressure in you to do better with your following albums?
- Donghyun : Of course it did! However, we try to think of it in a positive way and have more ‘drive’, ‘energy’ and ‘momentum’.
- Youngmin : We do feel pressured. However, the more pressurising it gets, the harder Boyfriend will work to present a better look and performance to our fans! Please look forward to it!
- Kwangmin : I feel extremely pressured each time we prepare a new album. However, I will keep working hard to put up a better performance and to grow as an artiste
- Q: Boyfriend is known for being a pretty boy group. Are you guys worried that your good looks might cause fans to overlook your musical talents?
- Donghyun : We are thankful that people like our looks. We don’t worry about it too much. It is indeed encouraging! We will continue to work hard to present our fans with great performance and musical talents besides the good looks.
- Youngmin : Such views create pressure for us to work even harder. Please look out for our performances!
- Q : Is there anything you would like to say to your Singaporean fans?
- Donghyun : Boyfriend will be flying to Singapore. We have Singaporean fans who occasionally send letters and gifts to us. We always wanted to say a big thank you to all those fans! We have always wanted to meet our fans in Singapore and we are exhilarated that we finally get a chance to do so. We hope to see all of you at our fan meet and have a great time together.
